May the force be with you

Zaavi sent me a marketing email in February and it worked. They were offering a Hasbro Darth Vader Helmet complete with sound effects for £99, cheaper than other sites like Amazon.

It comes in more than piece and after fitting a collar around you neck, the helmet fits over the top. I have a large neck and it fitted find for me and is adjustable so should fit a wide range of people. The eye pieces are very dark from the outside but you can see through them from the inside. This should make an excellent costume piece for Halloween. Not to be confused with cheap costume helmets.

The sound effects are good and there is a small button on the neck collar for making the breathing noise. It also makes a noise when lifting off the helmet.

I think I will buy the rest of a Darth Vader costume, a Master Replica light sabre, use this helmet and make some electronics for the chest piece to make a realistic looking costume in time for Halloween (if we are allowed out of lockdown by then?)

Top TV Recommendation

Being at home so much has given me the opportunity to catch up on some TV and films, both old and new. Just watched the excellent 80’s film, Elvira Mistress Of The Dark on Amazon Prime.

Then I noticed another series of films from Elvira, called 13 Nights Of Elvira which seems to be a collection of retro movies. The first one I watched is my rotten tomato recommendation for today: Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle Of Death.

I will never get these minutes of my life back again… It was so bad I just had to keep watching it.

The film’s star is Bill Mahar. A little bit of trivia.. he also starred in one of my favourite 80’s films, the brilliant House II: The Second Story and more recently as himself in Ted2.

The other well known face in the film is Adrienne Barbeau who has appeared in many of my favourite films from the 80’s and 90’s including The Fog, Escape From New York, The Cannonball Run, Swamp Thing, The Thing, Creepshow, Demolition Man, Judge Dredd, Quincy M.E, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, The Twilight Zone, Babylon 5, Flipper, Weird Science, Star Trek DS9, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Sons Of Anarchy and the new Swamp Thing.
